Ruby the rabbit liked to run really fast. Leo the lion loved to lie around all day long.
"Ruby!" called Leo from his leafy lair. "Let's go on an adventure!"
Ruby rolled her eyes. "Really, Leo? You rarely want to leave your lane!"
Leo lifted his large paw. "Today is different! I learned a special trick!"
Ruby was curious. "What trick?"
"I can roar so loudly that ripe apples fall right from the trees!" Leo replied.
Ruby laughed. "I'll believe that when I see it!"
So Leo and Ruby left their homes and traveled along the river. They climbed a hill where red apples grew on tall trees.
"Ready to see my trick?" Leo asked.
Ruby nodded. "Let's see this miracle!"
Leo took a long, deep breath. His lungs filled with air. Then he let out a ROAR so loud that birds flew from their nests!
But no apples fell.
"Try again," Ruby urged. "Louder this time!"
Leo tried once more. ROOOOAAAARRR!
This time, leaves rustled and branches shook. Still, not a single apple dropped.
"Last try," said Leo, looking a little sad.
He roared with all his might: RRRROOOOOAAAAARRRRRR!!!
Suddenly, something large fell from the tree. But it wasn't an apple!
It was Ralph the raccoon, who had been sleeping in the branches!
"Why are you making such a racket?" Ralph asked, rubbing his rear.
Leo, Ruby, and Ralph looked at each other and burst out laughing.
"Well, I did make something fall!" Leo said proudly.
And they all rolled down the hill together, laughing all the way home.
